Forum GraphicsBanners are images usually used for the top of a website and generally don't change from page to page. They are usually long, skinny and include your website name and sometimes graphics related to your website.
Logos are similar to banners, but are usually smaller or more box like as opposed to being as long as banners are. They can have your website name, but it's also common to simply have the initials of your website/business/etc. or some type of related acronym.
Affiliate Buttons/Banners (or Referral Buttons/Banners) are graphics that are used when another site wants to link to you from their site. These can be almost any size, but they usually match your banner or logo and include either your website name or the initials of it so it's easily recognizable.
Signatures are technically a quote, link or something about you that appears under every post you make on a forum, or in e-mail. In some cases, forums will allow you to show an image in your signature, which are the signatures I show, here. These can be just about any size, but I've found that 468 x 60 is a great size for these, because it's below just about every website's size requirement and won't stretch even the smallest screen resolution size. Userbars have become pretty popular when it comes to creating graphics for signatures. They are typically 348 x 17 px and flash several different graphics in a row with a computer generated looking caption of a few words, each. I recently learned how to make them and I have to say that they're pretty sharp looking as signatures go; I highly recommend them if you aren't sure what you want in a signature, since you can choose multiple sides of your personality to showcase.
