These are the questions that I either get asked the most often. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that every question you have will be here. If you have a question that I haven't answered, there's a form at the bottom of the page where you can contact me, directly, and I'll do my best to get an answer to you. Just so you know, though, if you contact me to ask a question I have already answered, here, I will direct you right back to this page. If you saw the answer, but didn't understand something, please make sure you are clear about what you didn't understand, otherwise I will not be able to help you.
What is a graphic? How is it different from an avatar? I want to request an avatar or graphic; what should I do? I want to request, but I don't know which form to use; what should I do? I want to request, but I don't know what size graphic I should request; what should I do? I requested an avatar/graphic and haven't heard from you; what should I do? I got my graphic, but I don't like the way it looks; what should I do? I already have a graphic from you, but I want to change it/make it a different size; can I? What am I allowed to do with my avatar, now that I have it? Can I request more than one graphic? Can I use the same form to request more than one graphic?
Is there anything you CAN'T make? Will you ever refuse to make me a graphic? Will you teach me how to make them? Will you work in my graphic/item shop?
Did you make this website, yourself? Will you make me/help me with my website? Will you be a graphics admin/whatever on my site? Can I link to your site from mine? Will you link to my site from here?
Can I add you to my buddy list? Will you be in my buddy/other PT? I have a question that isn't answered, here; what should I do? I have a comment, suggestion or complaint for you; what should I do? What is a graphic? How is it different from an avatar? A graphic is basically a picture of some kind, regardless of form or shape. An avatar is actually a type of graphic, but I have them separate because I get requests for Avatars the most often, so I felt the need to make a request form JUST for them. I want to request an avatar or graphic; what should I do? Fill out one of my Request Forms. Please DO NOT send me a PT, a direct e-mail or PM. It is easier for me to keep track of if I have them in the layout of my form, in my e-mail inbox. I want to request, but I don't know what size graphic I should request; what should I do? I have a specific page that shows all the standard sizes I work with, but you may request almost any size item you like. These sizes will give you a good idea of what size you want, though. If you are ordering an avatar, I strongly suggest that you check with the site you want to use it on to see what sizes they allow before requesting. I want to request, but I don't know which form to use; what should I do? If you want an avatar of ANY size, use the Avatar Request Form. If you want ANY OTHER type of graphic, use the Graphic Request Form. I want to request an avatar/graphic, but I don't know what character/font (type of writing)/background I want OR I don't care what I get; what should I do? It is o.k. if you don't know exactly what you want. You can tell me that you prefer 'cats' and I'll pick a character that matches the background you want. You can tell me that your favorite color is blue and I'll find a background that looks good and fits your character. You can tell me that you want something 'blocky' and I'll find a font that looks blocky, for you. If you tell me you don't care what you get, then I will make something up on my own, based on my own personal preferences and design ability. It is much easier for me if you know what you want. The reason this is true is because if you tell me you don't know what you want, then the chances that you LIKE what you get are slim, and if you try to make too many changes after letting me choose something, I'll probably get annoyed and tell you to be more specific, next time. If you tell me you don't care what you get, and then you try to ask for a bunch of changes, I'll probably get annoyed because you told me you didn't care, but you DO care and should have specified what you wanted in the first place. I want to request something, but I don't have an e-mail address OR a username on one of the forum sites you have listed; what should I do? I only accept requests from people on the sites I have listed or who can provide an e-mail address for me. If you can't do one of these things, you will not get a graphic from me. E-mail addresses are free from sites like Google and Yahoo, just to name a few. If your parents won't let you have your own e-mail address, then you'll have to wait until they will before I will make you a graphic. I requested an avatar/graphic and haven't heard from you; what should I do? If it has been approximately 24 hours and you haven't heard from me, please feel free to send me an e-mail or PT/PM me on the site you know me from. Please DO NOT re-request the graphic; the only things doing this will accomplish is filling up my inbox with duplicate requests and annoying me. Chances are that I got it and simply haven't notified you, yet. If I didn't receive it and need you to re-request, I will let you know. I heard from you, but you said you can't continue until you have a picture/download location; what should I do? If I have contacted you about the graphic and have stated that there is something that I need from you, then I can't complete your graphic without it. Font Download Location: If I contacted you about the font you chose, that means I don't have the font, already, and it isn't on Font Freak or Urban Fonts. You will need to find a website where I can download the font, for free, if you want me to use it. Make sure the font is free by downloading it yourself, first (sometimes the sites that make you pay for a font don't actually tell you that you have to pay for it until you click on the download link). If you cannot find the font as a free download, then you need to pick something else. Character/Background Picture: If I contacted you about the character or background you want, that means I looked for the character/background and wasn't able to find one pretty easily (within the first 5 or 6 pages of a web search) that would work.
In either case, it will be up to you to find a picture that I can use OR you will need to change your mind about what you want. I got my graphic, but I don't like the way it looks; what should I do? When I send you the graphic, I generally include the line "Please let me know if you want anything changed" or something like that. This means if you decide you don't like something about the graphic, I can change it for you, very easily. Keep in mind that if you picked things that I told you would not look good OR you tell me you don't care what you get and then you want a bunch of things changed, I'll likely get annoyed and refuse to do anything else for you. I already have a graphic from you, but I want to change it/make it a different size; can I? Certainly. I always keep the file that I used to make your graphic (yeah, always... I'm a technological packrat), so making changes to it is very easy. Just remind me what the graphic was (a link to it is even better so I can SEE it) and I can make whatever changes you need. What am I allowed to do with my avatar, now that I have it? There are sites online where you can upload your own avatar or use a link to it so that it shows next to your post. If the site doesn't allow you to upload/post a link to your own avatar, you won't be able to use it there (unless the site has some other way of making it available to you, such as having a staff member upload it for your use, etc). If you request an avatar from me with the intent of using it, somewhere, you should ALWAYS check the site, first, to see what size avatar you are allowed to have and if there are any other restrictions (like file size). Can I request more than one graphic? Certainly. Generally, I have a rule that you may not request more than 5 items from me without asking my permission, but don't let that deter you from asking; if I'm not very busy or if the requests are fairly simple, I won't hesitate to say yes. Can I use the same form to request more than one graphic? Nope. I only allow one per form so that it gives others a chance to send in their requests; this way my waiting list doesn't consist of 12 avatars for you and 1 avatar for another person (leaving the other person waiting forever while I make your 12). You can, however, make references to earlier requests. For example, if you want a web banner and an affiliate button that match, you can request one and then, on the second request, say something like "Affiliate banner should match the web banner I just requested." That way, you don't have to explain all over again what you want. The ONLY exception to this is if you are requesting a set of something like emotes (I will naturally assume that the emote are all the same color, simply with different expressions) or an entire set of avatars that we're going to have to talk about over e-mail/PT/PM to work out the details, anyway. Is there anything you CAN'T make? Yes, there are plenty of things I can't make, but I don't have a specific list on hand. When you request, I'll let you know whether or not something you've asked for is too hard or too time consuming for me to do. Usually, though, if it's something I don't know how to do, but believe is possible through my program, I'll try to figure out how to do it before I tell you I can't. Will you ever refuse to make me a graphic? I might just refuse at some point. If I refuse to make something, there will be a reason and I will tell you that reason. Maybe I can't make it, maybe I don't have time to make it, maybe I don't want to make it, but I will tell you. There are generally two reasons I won't make something for someone. The first occurs when someone demands something of me. "I want this and I want it right now!" I don't work that way. I'm providing you with a service and I'm providing it for free. Don't demand anything of me. The second one occurs when a requester has given me no direction whatsoever and, after I've created something for them, only THEN decides that they want something specific. "I want an avatar, I don't care what character or what background or what font or what font color!" So, I make the avatar and then the person says something like "Actually, can I have this person?" O.k. So I change it. And then they say "Oh, yeah, and can I have this font?" O.k. Another change. "Oh, and can I have..?" No. No, you can't. When you requested, you said you didn't care. Folks, be darn sure when you request that you know what you want. If you say you don't care and then want 1000 changes, I'll eventually tell you to forget it and I likely won't make anything else for you. Please keep in mind that begging, pleading, threatening, etc. do not work on me and will only make me more likely to keep refusing you graphics. I use a program called Adobe CS2 (which includes Photoshop). Before Photoshop CS2, I used Photoshop 7.0; before that CorelDraw 12 and even before THAT CorelDraw 9. Photoshop is definitely superior, in my humble opinion.
Will you teach me how to make them? Will you work in my graphic/item shop? No. I don't work for anyone when it comes to my graphics. I no longer play AC:GC or AC:WW, although I am currently playing AC:CF, however I am not currently interested in working in a shop dedicated to it. No; I prefer to do the work requested of me on my own. Did you make this website, yourself? I started out with a basic CSS template with an included theme and edited it (colors, coding, etc.) to fit my needs. I can code from scratch when warranted, but it's time consuming and usually more work that is worth, in my opinion, so I don't usually, even for my own sites. Will you make me/help me with my website? Not unless you are willing to pay me for my time as your website administrator. Website work is time consuming and unless I'm getting paid for it, I'd rather work on my own sites, rather than someone else's. Will you be a graphics admin/whatever on my site? No, I'm sorry. I belong to all the sites I'm currently interested in and I'm not interested in being staff anywhere. Can I add you to my buddy list? Go right ahead, but please do NOT add me to 'Buddy List Cleanout' PTs; I will remove myself without a word, so if you have a habit of making these types of PTs, don't add me, because you'll be wasting your time. Will you be in my buddy/other PT? No, thank you. I generally don't keep up with them and end up removing myself when it becomes just another random PT that I don't read. Can I link to your site from mine? Sure, feel free. You can either do a plain text link to the home page or you can use one of the following images:
Code:

Will you link to my site from here? If you place a link from your site to mine somewhere on the front or affiliate page of your site (meaning that it isn't on some random post, buried deep in a sea of threads on an off topic board), I would be more than happy to do the same for you! E-mail me with a link to your site (preferably the page where you have the link to MY site, so I can see it) and I will gladly add your site (either with your affiliate graphic or as a plain text link; whichever you choose) to the scrolling Site Affiliates bar on the homepage of my site. Keep in mind that I check these links from time to time, meaning that if a link to my site has been removed, the link to yours will be removed from here. |
